Flamingo Gardens is based in an old orange grove founded in the 30's. After the death
of the owners, it has been preserved as a bird refuge, exotic plant nursery, and an
example of life in Florida in the 30's. The last part can be seen in the old house, that
has been preserved to appear as it did back then, with all the old appliances and so on.
Many of the birds kept here are injured, and are either recuperating or can never be let
out in the wild.
